When sending a message we often add the mailing group in the "TO" field, write the message, and click send. While this process does work it tends to generate a lot of "REPLY ALL" messages.
A quick tip that will help get your message out there while keeping everyone's inbox a little less cluttered is using the BCC field. BCC stands for, Blind Carbon Copy. This allows you to send a message to an address and the recipients are kept private from each other.
How do I work this wonderful email magic?
- Open Gmail (http://mail.google.com) and click "Compose"
- In your new message type your email address in the "TO" field
- Look to the right of the "TO" field and you will see "BCC", click it
- Type in the mailing group you want to message in the "BCC" field
- Click "Send"
